Stage 2: Cairns to Atherton
93km - 2,600m climbing
After a short climb out of Cairns to the official start line, it was all on. Up over the first climb I managed to stay with the leaders, then it got steep, and hot, and steep, and they were gone. Into the jungle and up onto the tables lands we climbed, in tropical sweaty heat.
The only redeeming feature of the day was the great camp up on the Atherton Tablelands that awaited us.
A tough day is all I will say.
